Schraub's einfach selbst!Just fix it yourself!Garagenwissen
The big car guide for everyone who likes to get their hands dirty.
Oil level, tyres, lights, battery, warning lights: you can do a lot on your car yourself. We show you what you can do, how to do it and when you should leave it to a garage.

A lot on your car is no rocket science
If you understand your car, you drive more safely and save money. Oil level, tyre pressure, screen wash, bulbs or a flat battery: for many jobs you don't need a lift, just a few simple steps and the right explanation.
And when it comes to brakes, airbags or high-voltage systems, we tell you clearly: that belongs in a professional garage.

For every topic you see
at once: Can I do this?
Doing it yourself doesn't mean doing everything yourself. For every topic, the traffic light shows you honestly what you can take on and where the limit is.
Green: You can do it
With a few tools and no prior knowledge. Explained step by step.
- Oil level
- Tyre pressure
- Wiper blades
- Jump start
Yellow: With experience
You can do it yourself if you already have some practice, the right tools and safe axle stands.
- Changing a wheel
- Changing the battery
- Oil change
Red: Hands off!
Here you learn to spot problems. The work itself belongs in a professional garage.
- Brakes
- Airbag
- High voltage
All information is general guidance. What exactly applies to your car is in the owner's manual. If in doubt, ask a garage.

Understand it with the e‑book. Get to work with the app.
Read at home how your car works. Check in the garage which step comes next. That is why there are two tools with different strengths. Both are currently available in German only.

The app: your companion in the garage

Frequently asked questions
Is there an English version?
Not yet. The app and the e-book are currently available in German only, and so are the short videos. This English page helps you understand what the offer is about.
Do I need both the app and the e-book?
Both cover the same 347 topics, but they work differently. The e-book is your reference to read in one go, with quick finder, index and your own notes. The app is for the garage and on the go, with drive filter, year of manufacture, checklists and shopping list. Many people use both, which is why you can also get them together as a bundle.
I have never worked on a car. Is this for me?
Yes. The green topics are made for beginners: oil level, tyre pressure, screen wash, bulbs. Every guide tells you beforehand which tools you need, how long it takes and what typically goes wrong.
Does it fit my car?
The topics apply to most cars, whether petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric. In the app you choose your drive type and only see what applies to you. There are separate tips for older cars. What exactly applies to your model is in the owner's manual.
Do I have to install anything?
No. The app runs in the browser. On your phone you can add it to your home screen like a normal app.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and get your personal access code. It gives you 24 months of access per device. After that it ends by itself, nothing renews.
How do I get the e-book?
After buying, you receive a download link for the PDF file. The e-book is for your personal use only and may not be copied or passed on to others.
Do the app and e-book replace a garage?
No. They explain, give context and show what you can safely do yourself. Work on brakes, airbags, steering or high-voltage systems always belongs in a professional garage.
What happens to my data?
The app doesn't need an account. Your saved list, shopping list and car details are stored only on your device.
